SHARED HIKING TOUR ON NAXOS

EXPLORE THE ABANDONED VILLAGES OF THE ISLAND IN THIS 4.5-HOURS TOUR

The tour starts at 9 o´clock.

The path starts from Moni, a village with great tradition in the craft of weaving and stone quarry. After Moni, it leads to Sifones village, a place full of vegetation and water springs and a deserted village where its remained stone-built houses stand in the passage of time.

Moving towards the north and with a broad view of western Naxos, we continue upwards following the paved trails across old farmers’ farmhouses ("mitato" for the locals) and impressive landscape characteristics.

We then reach the top of the Fanari mountain, where the view of the landscape is fantastic. The trail continues on a rural road until it reaches the uphill path to Apeiranthos – one of the most famous villages of Naxos.

From there the route can either stop to Apeiranthos or continue in the opposite direction ending again at Moni village. The circular path has a distance of 10km with a duration of almost 4 hours with intense difficulty.
