Mykonos- The ancient island of Delos

THE ANCIENT HOLY ISLAND OF DELOS!

The meeting point is at 09:20 at the pier of Delos at the ticket office. After a short 30 minute boat ride to the island of Delos, you will meet your guide and history expert. You will have a 2-hour tour of the ancient ruins, with lots of information about the history of Greek mythology. You will have 1 hour of free time on the island to explore the site yourself before returning to Mykonos by boat.

There is much to see:

• the ancient marketplace Agora
• the famous terrace of the Naxos lions
• the sacred lake
• the ancient homes and theaters

Experience an authentic representation of the former daily life; Especially the houses of Dionysus, Cleopatra, the Trident, the masks, the dolphins with their mosaics are a fantastic art experience not to be missed.

The ancient island of Delos is a very extensive and rich archaeological site that combines ancient art, history and architecture with a unique location in the middle of the Greek Cyclades islands. It has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1990. This sacred island of the ancient Greek world was the birthplace of Apollo, god of the sun and daylight, and his twin sister Artemis, goddess of the moon and nightlight.
Delos was an important cosmopolitan Hellenistic settlement and, after its declaration as a free port, became a center of commercial activity in the eastern Mediterranean. Wealthy merchants and ship owners commissioned artists and craftsmen to build luxurious houses richly decorated with frescoes and mosaic floors of outstanding beauty.

In addition, you can discover and explore the Temple of Isis, the Roman water system and cisterns and the beautiful museum with many stunning mosaics, statues and many other objects found during the excavations.

On our guided tour you will depart from the old pier in Mykonos Town at 10am and return at 1pm. If you want to stay a little longer, you can also take the last boat back at 15:00.
